What Every Order Includes

Certified Polish to English
Translation: What You Get.

Polish civil records are short, but they carry a lot of detail in names, codes and later annotations. These six checks are part of every Polish order.

🖋️

Signed Certificate of Accuracy

Every translation comes with a dated, signed statement from the translator that it is a correct and complete rendering of the Polish original.

🔤

Polish Letters Kept in Names

Names with ł, ś, ż, ą or ę are written exactly as in your passport, so Łukasz never becomes Lukasz on one page and Łukasz on another.

👪

Male and Female Surname Forms Explained

Polish surnames change form, for example Kowalski and Kowalska. A short translator's note explains this so a reader does not think two different families are involved.

📑

Full or Short Copy Noted

We state if your record is an odpis zupełny (full copy) or an odpis skrócony (short copy), because some readers ask for the full version.

🏷️

Annotations Translated in Full

Later entries such as a name change, a marriage note or a correction added to a birth record are translated, not left out.

📎

Original Attached for Comparison

Your Polish document travels with the translation so the reviewer can compare them line by line.

How Polish Translation Works

How We Translate Your
Polish Documents for Official Use.

A clear phone photo or scan is enough. Upload it through the form, WhatsApp it or email it, including the back if there are stamps or notes.

2

We Confirm a Fixed Price

A real person checks the document and replies with a fixed cost, GST inclusive, and a delivery date, usually within thirty minutes.

3

What Makes a Polish to English Translation Acceptable in New Zealand?

New Zealand does not appoint sworn translators, so a tłumacz przysięgły stamp is not what most New Zealand bodies look for. Immigration New Zealand asks for a translation certified as correct by the translator, signed or stamped, submitted with the original, and not prepared by you, a family member or your adviser. For a New Zealand passport, DIA's guidance asks for translations to be sent with the original documents. The sections below cover the Polish documents we see most and the points that cause problems.

Polish Documents We Translate Most

  • Civil records: akt urodzenia (birth certificate), akt małżeństwa (marriage certificate), akt zgonu, and divorce judgments, issued by the Urząd Stanu Cywilnego.
  • Education records: świadectwo dojrzałości (matura certificate), dyplom ukończenia studiów and the diploma supplement.
  • Legal and police papers: zaświadczenie o niekaralności from the National Criminal Register, court decisions and powers of attorney.
  • Everyday documents: prawo jazdy (driving licence), employment certificates and bank documents.

From Our Recent Polish Files

Every Polish enquiry sent to us this year has been for the same purpose: a birth certificate for a New Zealand citizenship application. A few things came up:

  • Quotes from a sample. One client sent a blank sample of the same certificate type to get a price before sending their own. That works for a quote, but the certified translation must be made from your own document.
  • The same request sent twice. If you have not heard back, it is fine to send again. We check for repeats so you are only quoted once.
  • Full or short copy. Polish offices issue a full copy and a short copy of the same record. If you are not sure which the receiving body wants, ask them before you order, and send us their answer.

Multilingual Extracts From Poland

Polish registry offices can also issue a multilingual extract (odpis wielojęzyczny) with field labels in several languages, including English. If a New Zealand body accepts it without a translation depends on that body and on how much free-text content the extract contains, such as annotations. If you are unsure, send us the document and the name of the authority, and we will tell you what the English version would cover before you pay.

How Much Does Polish to English Translation Cost in New Zealand?

Certified Polish to English translation starts from $49 per document, GST inclusive. Academic transcripts start from $99 because of their length. Court-ready and notarised options are available, and you always receive a fixed written quote before work begins.

Common Questions, Answered Honestly

Polish to English Translation FAQs —
Answered Plainly.

Do I need a sworn (przysięgły) translator for New Zealand?▾
No. New Zealand does not appoint sworn translators. INZ and most New Zealand bodies ask for a translation certified as correct by the translator, signed or stamped, with the original attached.
Should I order the full copy or the short copy of my Polish birth certificate?▾
If the receiving body has said which it wants, follow that. If not, the full copy (odpis zupełny) carries the most information, including later annotations. We note on the translation which version it is.
Can I use a Polish multilingual extract instead of a translation?▾
Sometimes. It depends on the receiving body and on whether the extract has free-text annotations. Send it to us with the name of the authority and we will tell you what the English version would cover.
How will you spell names with Polish letters?▾
We follow your passport exactly. If your passport shows Łukasz, the translation says Łukasz. Gendered surname forms such as Kowalski and Kowalska are explained in a short note.
I am applying for NZ citizenship. Is a certified translation enough?▾
DIA's passport guidance asks for English translations to be sent with the original documents. For citizenship, check the application guide for any specific translator requirement, and tell us which application the translation is for.
Can I get a quote by sending a sample certificate?▾
Yes, a sample of the same type gives an accurate quote. The certified translation itself must be made from your own document.
How much does Polish to English translation cost?▾
Certified translation starts from $49 per document, GST inclusive, with academic transcripts from $99. You receive a fixed quote before any work begins.
How fast can you translate a Polish birth certificate?▾
Standard delivery is 2–4 working days. Express (within 24 hours, +$20) and urgent (within 12 hours, +$50) options are available, and same day for short documents when a translator is confirmed free.
Do you translate older handwritten Polish records?▾
Yes. Older registry copies with handwritten entries are read and translated in full by a native Polish translator.
